Jeff Felty, Compliance and Privacy Officer

My name is Jeff Felty, and I am the Compliance & Privacy Officer for Centerstone Kentucky. It is my job to help us avoid violations of the law or regulations related to the services we provide to our clients and funding sources. I also promote interactions that are consistent with Centerstone’s Code of Conduct. The Compliance part of the job relates to how we provide and document services to our clients, especially as it relates to billing for these services. The Privacy part of the job relates to how we protect our clients’ confidential information, especially their protected health information. My daily duties typically involve providing advice and technical assistance to employees and leadership, auditing our internal processes and controls, and investigating concerns that are reported to me.

I started with Centerstone in July of 2017, but I have been working in the health and human services industry for more than 28 years. I spent my first eight years working as a Child and Family Therapist, including two years at Seven Counties Services in southern Jefferson County. In 1997, I began work at ResCare, a Louisville-based company specializing in services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and youth at risk of hospitalization or incarceration. I initially served as the Treatment Director, and later the Executive Director, for youth residential and treatment foster care services in Kentucky. I was looking for a new challenge and decided to join ResCare’s Compliance Department in 2005. Prior to my departure, I served as the Director of the company’s corporate compliance functions throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

I have a M.S. degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville and a M.A. degree in Child Development and Family Therapy from Western Kentucky University. In Kentucky, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I have been Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) since 2006.

At home I like to spend time with my family and Boston terrier, Oskar. I have two boys who will be sharing an apartment at UK next year (one will be a junior and the other an incoming freshman) – we will see how that goes! I really love nature photography, and I have traveled both within and outside the U.S. taking photos of my favorite landscapes. I like to relax by spending time with friends around the fire pit, or binge-watching new shows on Netflix.

I am very happy to be part of the Centerstone family.
